I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hostal Rio Amazonas during my solo trip to Santiago, Chile, and I must say it was an incredible experience! First and foremost, the staff at Hostal Rio Amazonas were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Their warmth and hospitality made me feel right at home from the moment I stepped through the door. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable, providing valuable local insights and recommendations. Cleanliness is a top priority for me when choosing accommodation, and Hostal Rio Amazonas exceeded my expectations. The rooms were impeccably clean, and the common areas were well-maintained throughout my entire stay. It's evident that the staff takes pride in creating a spotless and inviting environment for guests. The location of Hostal Rio Amazonas couldn't have been more convenient. Situated in a central area, it allowed me easy access to various attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. This made exploring Santiago a breeze and added to the overall enjoyment of my trip. As a solo woman traveler, safety is paramount, and I felt incredibly secure at Hostal Rio Amazonas. The hostel has excellent security measures in place, providing peace of mind during my stay. This, coupled with the friendly atmosphere, made it an ideal choice for fellow solo travelers. In conclusion, my stay at Hostal Rio Amazonas was nothing short of fantastic. From the very friendly staff to the spotless cleanliness, convenient location, and heightened safety for solo travelers, I wholeheartedly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Santiago. This place is awesome and the staff are the best! Caroline and I got into lots of chats about Chilean Spanish getting to know the culture, she is so rad--and helpful--thank you for the multiple lessons! ... Miriam was also super kind and really helpful, as were all of the rest of the warm and welcoming staff. This place is like a big family--all the people who work here are like a big family, and you can be a part of it for the time that you're here, if you care to. It's a real community vibe, feels excellent, and there are also plenty of guests around to chat with, if you like. The Hostal itself is in a very cool old house with excellent hangout spaces and with quite some variety. The outdoor terrace where breakfast is served is so nice to chill out in and write and drink máte. The sunlight changes throughout the day in the different spaces and makes each one feel differently. It feels really cozy, like your home. Lots of plants and gorgeous oil paintings by the owner of the place of scenes from all over Chile. The room is spacious and filled with light with a comfortable bed. Great location in the midst or between all of the not so touristy and cool districts that I wanted to visit. I really felt at home here relaxing in the various public spaces and getting into conversations with different people who work here. Great restaurant option as well with a nice variety of yummy food and also a bar with drink options. It was super relaxed and easy to be here and feel really comfortable and happy. It was however, difficult to leave! Thank you for a great stay and I will certainly return if I am ever in Santiago again for any amount of time! :)

Very lovely atmosphere, thanks to the hosts and family, friends and great interior warm welcoming design and the interior organization of the bedrooms and also living and dining rooms. My room at the back of the hostel was very spacious, including the bathroom. The doors could be locked. Subway, good vegetarian restaurants, not to far by foot 30-45 min. Bus stop nearby too. The neighborhood gives a bit odd impression with graffiti walls near the Argentina’s consulate building. And it you come for the first time you may overlook the entrance. But when you walk on the path and enter, you walk in a different world. Like magic. If you don’t want to go out to dine you can order and it will be delivered at the hostel. The most important thing is of course the mattress which was firm not soft. Just what I like. The room was regularly cleaned. On top of the bed was also a thick blanket available. A bit less was the noise of footsteps of the guest in the room above mine. Note that it is a bit older house, but with plank flooring. When you are a light sleeper you should ask for another room. I loved to stay here.

Staff were really lovely and accommodating, and we were able to check in early, right off our flight. The hostel is really colourful with lots of common spaces and a bar, as well as some food options, which we were grateful for. You can also buy a real cappuccino: not always the case in Chile! Very well located near Lastarria and Bellavista and a metro station. Breakfast was decent: bread rolls, cheese, boiled egg, yoghurt, juice and a piece of fruit, but if you want a proper coffee you have to pay extra. Finally we loved Ginny the dog!
